MARC MOMMAAS

NIKOLAJ HESS

'Mommaas has created an unfaltering suite of compositions that express new things while studiously avoiding, for the most part, the free-jazz route. Add to this the fact that both musicians’ playing is damn good and you have an important record.” - Jeff Dayton-Johnson, All About Jazz' (May 2006)
'This record of duo recordings showcases the Dutch saxophonist at his very best....'

End February 2009 we recorded the music including Tony, Nate and as guest Rez Abbasi and Vic Juris both on guitar. It is a unique concept, music specifcally written for tenor saxophone, drums and two guitarist. Vic and Rez are alternating on the record. The music is very much what the music is about in 2009, and is tune with the direction jazz-improvisation is taking. It should be out in the Fall of 2009.
